Premium firewood, sustainably produced
We supply top-quality firewood, split and ready for use in solid fuel stoves, wood burners and open fires, and guarantee that all our wood is hardwood and well-seasoned or kiln-dried.
Locally coppiced wood
Coppicing is an ancient forestry technique that enables the sustainable harvesting of wood. Hardwood trees – the best type for firewood – are cut down to ground level, which stimulates regrowth and means the trees can be re-harvested. We obtain as much of our firewood from local coppices as we can.
All our firewood comes from sustainable, well-managed sources that have replanting schemes in place.
Superior seasoning
Seasoned wood is much better for burning, as the seasoning process dries out the wood and helps it to burn cleanly. Freshly cut wood can be up to 45% water, but we dry our wood to get its moisture content down to 20%. This means your firewood will be easier to light and produce more heat.
Wildlife protection
Coppicing benefits local wildlife as well as providing a sustainable source of firewood. Coppicing different sections of woodland on rotation allows light on to the forest floor, helping different plant species to thrive and boosting the wildlife diversity of the woodland.
Low carbon footprint
Our firewood comes from local sources to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible, and all the wood we supply complies with the latest British standards on fuel emissions.
Cleaner burning fuel
Firewood is the cleanest choice of fossil fuel, and thanks to our seasoning process, you can rest assured you’re making the most environmentally friendly choice.
Firewood Frequently Asked Questions
What types of firewood do you sell?
All our firewood is finest-quality hardwood, well-seasoned and sourced from sustainable forestry and woodland.
Where does your firewood come from?
All our firewood comes from sustainable woodland and forestry as part of a replanting scheme. It is sourced responsibly through our excellent relationships with the Forestry Commission, local small forestry companies, and Sussex and Surrey coppice groups. We guarantee that our firewood is top-quality hardwood that is well-seasoned for clean, efficient burning in open fires, wood burners, and multi-fuel stoves.
How long can I store my wood for?
Firewood does not have a use-by date, but some hardwoods like silver birch, alder, maple and poplar are more prone to rotting down. Store your logs in a dry, covered place and they won’t rot and will remain free of moisture and fungus. If you stack your logs along a wall, be sure to leave a gap between the wood and the wall so that air can circulate.
